Platt tool cases
Benjamin Platt reached Ellis Island in New York Harbor in 1904, fleeing involuntary military service under the Czar in Russia.

He found it easy to change from cutting leather Cossack saddle harnesses to shaping fine cowhides into sturdy suitcases and stylish bags. His new creations were well-suited to endure the rough handling of 1920s-era travel.

The fourth generation of the Platt family, in Chicago, continues leading the industry forward as their father, grandfather and great-grandfather did before them, when they made leather luggage. The materials used now reflect the need for portability and efficiency, and make possible tough, well-designed cases that do just what the original Platt leather luggage did.... service, protect, survive.

Platt is the company that introduced the first combination locks on luggage, and the first cushioned handles, the first to use its own hardware, the first to mold bowling bags from plastic, and the first to mold a urethane pallet. All Platt cases are made in the US.
