High-output weather-resistant tone generator

This tone generator is a great choice if you need to work outdoors, or in a damp environment, or if you tend to drop things.

Its output is strong enough to trace wires buried inside walls, or deep inside a rat's nest of cables.

The housing is heavy duty and water resistant, and has a weather-tight 2-conductor modular cord and a jack.

The built-in jack can be a big time saver. Instead of moving furniture and crawling on you knees to plug the tone generator into a jack, just unplug the line cord from the phone on the desk, and plug it into the tone generator.

You can also plug in a line cord from a phone system if you need to simulate dialtone, or need to check for crosstalk between lines (Put tone on one line and listen on the other, and judge the variation when the phone company's circuits are connected and disconnected.)

You can also plug the attached cord into the jack -- it's a "safe haven" that will protect the plug so you won't snag it and brak off the tab!.

Additional tests: Trace cable pairs. Locate cables in walls with a probe. Provide talk battery on dead pairs. Check for shorts and opens using the LED. Continuity . Tip & Ring identification. Line condition identification (Clear, Busy, Ringing)

Dual tone capability: 1200 Hz steady or 600/1200 Hz alternating.
