We think that Jonard Industries makes the ultimate diagonal cutter, or dikes, for telecom wire. It costs more than a Klein cutter, or a Radio Shack cutter; but when you make your first cut, you'll appreciate the difference. This tool is fully warranted by Jonard against defects in workmanship or materials. Our price is just $29; it's $34.23 at Newark Electronics.
Jonard has been designing and manufacturing precision hand tools and test instruments for over 50 years, for local phone companies, AT&T, IT&T, IBM, Xerox, AbleComm, Kodak, Hewlett Packard, Boeing, government agencies and the military. The company has produced more than 10,000 different tools, and is the largest telecom plier manufacturer in the US.
The tapered nose on this tool has beveled blades and both .030-inch and .045-inch wire stripping holes, and two V-shaped stripping notches. There's also a crusher space inside the handles, suitable for crimping "B" wire connectors.
The dikes' handles have a thick comfortable plastic coating, and are red for easy identification and locating.
